The secret behind Yukon performance lies beneath the hood,
where you can choose from one of four different engines and
engine configurations:
- The basic Yukon model comes standard with a Vortec 4,800
V-8 that delivers 275 horsepower, and is available with
a more sophisticated Vortec 5,300 V-8 that delivers 285
horsepower as well.
- The Yukon XL comes standard with this latter engine, and
also is available with a Vortec 6,000 V-8 or a Vortec 8,100
V-8.
- In the Yukon Denali, you get a standard Vortec 6000 V-8
engine, StabiliTrak stability enhancement system, and Autoride
suspension for a smooth ride no matter what the terrain.
- Finally, with the Yukon XL Denali, you receive the same
power under the hood, but also receive full-time All-Wheel
Drive, which delivers stability and precision in all conditions.
No matter what model you choose, one 2008 2009 GMC Yukon part
you'll be interested to learn more about is the transmission
- a four-speed automatic, electronically controlled transmission
with overdrive and tow/haul mode. The truck also comes standard
with 26-gallon fuel tank, Locking Rear Differential, and a
towing capacity of up to 12,000 pounds. Some models even boast
QUADRASTEER four-wheel steering system allows for a turning
radius as tight as a Honda Accord Coupe.
Other Yukon parts are more clearly designed for your comfort
and convenience. Some of the available interior bells and
whistles include:

- Nine speaker Bose sound system
- Ten-way adjustable leather-trimmed seats with two-position
memory

If those aren't enough for you, some of the available exterior
bells and whistles include: foldaway rearview mirrors, frame-mounted
recovery hooks, daytime running lamps, halogen fog lamps,
rear liftgate and black assist steps mounted between front
and rear wheels at bottom of the car's rocker panel. There
are also a number of optional Yukon accessories that help
you tailor Yukon performance to meet all of your needs.
One Yukon part that is not optional, however, is, of course,
safety. In fact, the 2008 2009 GMC Yukon is one of the safest SUVs
on the road today. The truck features:
- Sturdy steel door beams
- Hydroformed technology
- Limp Home mode, which sends engines into operation on
alternating banks of cylinders and uses air to cool itself
in order to get you safely to a repair center
- Anti-lock brakes help you maintain steering control under
hard- braking situations
If these safety features sound impressive to you, you're
not alone! Dozens of GMC experts hail Yukon performance as
